VRChat version: 2022.2-8d03df2a56
Description of the bug:
According to the docs of EAC, the EAC will be removed if I uninstalled the game.
However, after uninstalling VRC, the service EasyAntiCheat_EOS will still be on the services list.
Please uninstall EAC when uninstalling VRChat
Some friend found a document
for developer
and the command in the doc, EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe uninstall <ProductId-in-json>
, is working for me to uninstall EAC.That's why
I think the mechanism to uninstall EAC is not broken and I think this is a VRChat’s fault.
My environment is Windows11 so I thought that may be because of using unsupported Windows version.
However, some my friends reported me that same happens on windows 10 so I reported here.

Steps to reproduce:
1) uninstall VRChat via steam
2) find service list on some app (e.g. Task Manager)
3) you can find EasyAntiCheat_EOS

The latest update on the Steam platform will now correctly uninstall EAC. However, we aren't able to automate this process for the Oculus platform currently.
To manually uninstall EAC, you can follow the steps below:
- Navigate to your VRChat Installation Directory
- Open the EasyAntiCheat folder
- Type "CMD" in the File Explorer address bar and then hit Enter
- Paste "EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe uninstall a4a57ff548934dbeba0cc7c62cdf9f34" into the Command Line without including quotation marks
If you've already uninstalled VRChat you can follow the steps here:
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete "EasyAntiCheat_EOS"
- Run Command Prompt as admin and use the command "sc delete EasyAntiCheat_EOS"

1: Will it be downloaded back when I launch the game? When I started the game, I found that the EAC EOS background program did not start, and the EAC EOS service did not start. When I clicked on the startup, Windows couldn't start the EAC service error 87, error 87, the parameter error popped up

When I was talking to my friend about eac, I discovered that I actually don't have an EaceOS system sys file. I asked my friend for one but it didn't work

According to release note, fixing this problem is included in OpenBeta #1228.
I've tested with my PC and VM and it looks fixed!
Thank you for fixing this problem!

There's updates of this Canny from VRChat Support.
I've wait for updates on this critical issue but there was no updates for long time.
Therefore I asked about this yesterday on VRChat Support.
After that, status if this Canny is updated to Tracked Internally and there's message from VRChat Support.
In short, VRChat is already tracked this problem internally but they missed updating this Canny.
I believe the message is true and this will be fixed soon.

FYI - Steam docs reference a method to run commands on uninstall, which may be useful here (I don't know about oculus)

I confirm this. I noticed this on first open beta. I uninstalled VRC for test, but EAC service was still there.

Are there any other titles using EAC?
This issue can cause new problems since system is not clean when VRChat reinstalling.

ni1chigo2115: Now,I'm not playing such games.
But EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe still exist after uninstall.
anatawa12
ni1chigo2115: No, I do not have any other games with EAC. In my PC, no games other than NeosVR and VRChat are not installed.
ni1chigo2115
anatawa12: OK, I think the solution is easy, but I think it is a problem that needs to be focused on.
The fact that EAC is not uninstalled cleanly makes it harder to deal with problems when reinstalling VRC.
