Twitch links not working (affecting: AVPro/TXL video players, SOME PCVR users)
tracked

Beginning in the latest update and/or around 10/4/24, Twitch links plugging into (at least) the AVPro and/or TXL video players results in around 1/10th of PCVR players unable to hear audio or see the Twitch stream. Instead, they see "VIDEO ERROR" on the screen immediately after the link is plugged in. I cannot replicate this issue myself but it appears to be affecting users all over the world on PCVR only. It is affecting people in PCVR specifically (but maybe also on desktop, I am unsure) regardless of internet speed, PC build, GPU, video player custom launch options, etc. It does not appear to be affecting Quest users. By using a VRCDN link, it circumvents this issue but VRCDN is a paid service and not all can afford it or know how to use it.
Please let me know if you need anymore information. I can also direct you to users who are experiencing this problem or ask them for more information.

The issue here might have to do with the certificate for Twitch itself, which is not signed by the Amazon Root CA 1. Here is what worked for me. YMMV.
- Browse to twitch(.)tv
- Download/Export the certificate.
- Install the Twitch leaf certificate to the local system and user, install the complete chain if required.
- (I installed the Amazon Root CA 1 as well, so maybe that does help as well)
- Access Internet Options > Content > Clear SSL State
- Reboot

Let me know if this works for you guys or if it's the same bug, i'm determined to resolve this one uwu :3

gabaneon The HLS playlist URLs (what yt-dlp resolves when entering a link to a live stream) are from a different domain that has a different certificate chain. Usually is something like https :// video-weaver.mil02.hls.ttvnw.net/v1/playlist/CoMasdasdefdeeead<etc>
That is why clips and vods would work for people vs live streams, as clips and vods are not hosted on hls ttvnw net, just the playlist files. (this domain btw is not listed in the default video player allowlist https://creators.vrchat.com/worlds/udon/video-players/www-whitelist/ )

Melyr Thank you for the clarification; that makes a lot more sense. I think the SSL errors I was getting may have actually been resolved by both installing the Amazon Root certificate and clearing the state, as per the similar issue you linked to below.

I am slowly turning crazy over this issue, since I instantly get an error when trying to play either Twitch or VRCDN links over ProTV.
YouTube Videos and Livestreams work without issues.
An exempt of the error log can be found underneath.
Hardware:
CPU: Intel i7700k
GPU: GTX1070
RAM: 32GB
Everything like reinstalling the game, turning off my firewall e.g. didn't bring any success.
At this point I am at a completely fresh Windows 10 install with no system parameters whatsoever changed.

To follow up, I know that this is marked as "complete" but the same people are still experiencing the same issues with Twitch unfortunately.

StormRel Heyyy, the same people are still experiencing this issue. Just as a heads up because this was marked as "complete" and I don't think it is yet.

This is occurring for me but not with desktop. It occurs only pcvr (q2, with link or VD doesn't matter)
I will try the certificate stuff tonight
