Repeated blocking and unblocking can cause a drop in trust rank

I recently blocked a modified client user through the VRChat website. It appears this user has retaliated by blocking me back. Somehow, this action demoted me from Trusted User to Known User, even though I have been Trusted for MONTHS, ever since the system came out.

I suspect that this user has been repeatedly blocking and unblocking me, making the system falsely believe that I have been blocked many times.

From what I have heard, another potential way this can be abused is by repeatedly hiding the same avatar without ever un-hiding it.

I know two other people that have recently had the same issue. Dropping two entire ranks basically overnight. Is no way to know for sure how it's done, but both people mentioned it occurred after blocking a modified client user. Either there's some in-game exploit, or it's part of a client. Definitely needs fixing before it gets more widespread.

Tbh, it's probably a bad idea to have a Canny post for something like this if that is the case, this makes it pretty publicly available... :p

I imagine they can resolve it rather easily by setting some kind of quota of how many times the same person can block/unblock someone before their blocking is deemed invalid.

Pretty much the only way to fix something like this is to drag it out publicly so they can't ignore it.

I sent an email about this to moderation@vrchat.com, unfortunately their response is that they can't reveal anything about the situation and wouldn't be able to restore my rank. 😐

I suspected that would be possible when the trust system came out. I kept it to myself so as not to give anyone the idea to try it. Looks like they figured it out.
