Random avatars return error bots for other players.

Whaddageek
Random avatars are currently returning error bots for non-local players (Ie; they look fine to the wearer, but anyone else loading them gets the Error Bot). Console shows the following errors;
Error - [Behaviour] Error downloading avatar [AVATAR NAME]/Security: Error loading asset bundle from ****: HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
Error - [Behaviour] Error downloading avatar [AVATAR NAME]/Standard: Error loading asset bundle from ****: HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden

I think users expect to be able to change and use avatars at any time.
I believe this canny's behavior is a bug, but if just being an error avatar is a bug, and not being able to use it while Pending is intended, then maybe it should be reconsidered.

Avatars Failing to load properly 403 Forbidden Errors

Some avatars are failing to load and giving users the Error robot. Logs show that the ability to load the asset is resulting in a 403 forbidden error.

Do you have any example avatar IDs?

many avatars
not occurs:
- public avatars in metafes world
occurs:
- at least japanese friends' private avatars
- my private avatars that I did not used recently
And once error occurs then recovers after some interval
So I suspect that something like a security system cache has gone, which causes the request to return an error once, and after a while the system caches the data and responds normally.

narazaka for me the avatars that result in errors have "pending" under "uncompressed size" and only happens on avatars uploaded months ago. Anything recent is fine, it's just old avis that I uploaded half a year ago

Upon further investigation, it seems to be happening since Friday (1st of November) therefore it might have something to do with https://creators.vrchat.com/avatars/avatar-size-limits/#footnote-label
Especially since it only seems to be happening to old avatars that were definitely uploaded before August 16th

At least in my environment, it is not necessarily directly related to the upload date, but to whether it was used recently.
> the avatars that result in errors have "pending" under "uncompressed size"
It is also true in my env
narazaka
my most recent errored avatar was uploaded at 2024-09-16

no 2019-06-19

StormRel For some reason my medium avatar turns into an error bot to everyone in the instance. avtr_1e6a7b01-9c97-4dd7-9f3a-cad2e878efd7

Shouldn't we hold off on applying the limit until after the recalculation of the uncompressed size?

And it may not even be the most recently used avatar. Because the 2020 avatar that I don't think was used most recently was not Pending.

In my environment, there was an avatar that became an error robot, even though it was a recently used avatar.
Specifically, this is the avatar we used in the event on 2024-10-29, a week ago.
Moreover, even if it was an avatar that was recently uploaded, there was also an error robot. Thus, it seems that both the upload time and recent usage have no relation in my environment.
> So, I suspect that something like a security system cache has been corrupted, causing the request to return an error once. After a while, the system caches the data and responds normally.
I support this theory, and a concern has been raised.
In the future, if the cache of the corresponding data is lost due to a server failure, error robots like this will occur again in large numbers.

It is also not dependent on performance rank or download size.

and many some other my avatars, but I don't remember complete list.

I don't think it is a problem specific to avatars, but just in case, I will list one of the IDs of the avatars that became error robots, the range of time and the number of times I tried to change the avatars. (As my memory is a little vague, please use the time and number of times as a reference.)

Avatars are also confirmed to be within download and unpacked filesizes.
Nowhere near either in the case of one of my own affected.
