Oculus Rift Random Game Freeze
Philuu ❄
In actually the last few Weeks me and my friends who use a Oculus Rift CV1 have experienced Freezes all around VRChat. We call it a freeze but it just really stops video from being shown to either the HMD or when you take the Headset off, on the Desktop. You can still fully hear and interact with anything else in VRChat but you're basically a blind man. I don't know how to recreate it since it's seemingly random but the issue is definitely there and definitely ruining my experience and every other CV1 User with VRChat.
This issue apparently only concerns CV1 Players as mentioned earlier.

This is basically the same issue mentioned here: https://vrchat.canny.io/bug-reports/p/vrchat-randomly-crashes-to-desktop-with-no-error
except that was marked as complete, which it really shouldn't have.

I've definitely been experiencing this with CV1 as well since the 2018 update was released. I can hear and speak to others, but I only ever see that 1 frame that game got stuck to. Issue does seem to occur only when there's more populated instance than 2-3 people by far, but at random time. Other background stuff like Oculus Desktop and SteamVR still show running fine, just the game itself freezes.
Just for noteworthy details, I run system with Ryzen 5 1600, GTX 1060 6gb and 16gbs of DDR4.
Observer.
Uzy Uzume: Do you have any crash logs to send to the support team for investigation? Please see my comment below for details.

I've been trying for a couple months now to help figure out any reproducible steps. I'm out of ideas. The particular freeze happens on both the SteamVR and Oculus versions of the game. It does appear to be isolated to Oculus CV1 users.
Strange that you've only started to experience it now. I've had the freezes since the unity 2018 update released.
Make sure you follow the instructions from the last canny post comments to provide information on this issue. https://vrchat.canny.io/bug-reports/p/vrchat-randomly-crashes-to-desktop-with-no-error

Observer.: Why was that marked as complete, it was never fixed? I sent a report by Tupper's instructions and the reply I got was to send one a different way, I don't think the person who replied and Tupper are on the same page on that one.

George Rosebush: I dont know what is happening. I've been trying for the past 2 months to help reproduce the issue or help find a solution but now im just not getting any replies to my emails. I think the last canny was closed because there were multiple crashes being reported in the same post and they were fixing a bunch of different crashes from the unity 2018 release. As for this specific oculus crash last I was told is that they cant reproduce the issue on their end. It may very much be ignored until it can be consistently reproduced.
