I've noticed that, while looking around in the menus, there's a chance you'll hear the 'menu up' and 'menu down' sounds at the same time.
this can lead to a soft-lock if you exit the menu completely. the only way I know how to avoid a soft-lock is to exit the world and re-enter the world again.
otherwise, if you are in a soft-lock state, then your only option is alt + F4 to force the program to close.

It seems I've sussed out one of the causes for this. when one starts creating an instance (say friends+/friends of guests) but backs out of this process, it will cause a lock to occur.

Observer.: only Latiprod's post seems to be a match to this issue. the other three look more like something's not connecting between the server and the client.

Dorrivix: They are all the same thing. People getting soft locked after closing the menu. The fix being to reload the world or reload the game. I don't have game sounds on so I can't confirm the multiple times this issue has occurred to me if the audio is played.
