I was working on updating my new owl humanoid avatar 3.0 to use physbones when I noticed that the oculus quest VRChat client has a bug that loads you into worlds detached from your avatar either above or inside the chest of the avatar. When this happens the player can look down and see their avatar, and they notice that their arms are not moving with their IRL controller movements. Next they notice that they can see their avatar but if they look straight at a mirror, they are completely invisible in the mirror. Next if they try to load a camera pointed at them, their avatar is also invisible. I have checked my unity project for any warnings or errors, there are not any issues. I checked the VRC SDK Builder tab and everything on my avatar is green with good or excellent across the board. I have read through the documentation and have confirmed I am not doing anything outside of normal avatar creation. I also checked an older avatar of mine and it has the same out of body bug that the new avatar has. That avatar used to work great all the time and now it suffers the same world issue. I have discovered a strange work around where you change your safety settings between normal and a default custom and regardless of what direction you change it to, it puts you back into your avatar and you can move fingers etc. If I load a world and Im already inside of the avatar, I can change the safety settings to be rendered outside of the avatar and experience the bug. So its not like setting it to normal safety or custom safety fixes it all the time. It's more like just the act of changing any safety setting causes it to take you between a functional avatar and a non functional avatar. I have not been able to confirm if other users see me as broken when it is broken or not. I scanned the VRChat discord for similar issues and I found 2-3 other users with the same issue, the oldest post going back to April 16th 2022. I followed some discussed troubleshooting steps like uninstalling VRChat on the quest and reinstalling it and even tried factory resetting my Oculus Quest 2 and trying it again with a freshly setup Oculus Quest 2. I have a couple videos demoing the bug and my Unity Project. I also decided to try setting up my avatar on a blank Unity Project from scratch and the same bug occurs when I test it in the VRChat Oculus Quest 2 client.
