IPD/Double Vision Bug at high CPU load
Toawa
Starting about a week ago, I started having an issue with VRC, where, at times with high CPU load (or when in the Steam menu), VRC will seemingly forget where my eyes are supposed to be. It will render the left eye higher and more left than it should, and the right eye higher and more right than it should, causing a double-vision effect.
The height of the avatar does not appear to have any effect on this. By high CPU load, I mean high during that frame, not high in general. It is often (though not always) accompanied by a failure to render that frame (freeze), which pops up the Steam VR delay box if it goes long enough.
VRC seems to be the only thing affected. Overlays (XS Overlay, OVR Drop, SteamVR menu) are not affected. I've not seen this happen in any other VR games (though that doesn't necessarily prove anything).
Restarting my PC has not helped, nor has updating to the latest GPU drivers. This bug does not seem to have coincided with a VRC update, but I might have missed when one happened.
The easiest way to recreate it is to open the Steam menu. The bifurcation will occur while the Steam menu is open. After closing the menu, it will usually flip every frame between bugged and not bugged for 1-2 seconds. Otherwise, it will occur randomly, at (apparently) high CPU load. In Steam VR advanced timing for that frame, CPU will be full purple (often with red late starts around it), while GPU will go to full idle (frame not being rendered) for that frame.
