Doppler on audio sources no longer works

Ever since the Unity 2017 upgrade, all doppler on avatar audio sources are gone. Old models with doppler no longer have it, and newly uploaded models have no doppler either. It seems to be completely gone.

Wasn't I told by Tupper, and TCL simultaneously their efforts to change audio is to be "more realistic". How is removing doppler support this argument lol.

Doppler was intentionally disabled, and won't be re-enabled. It was used properly in exceedingly rare situations, and the default magnitude of the doppler effect you heard while locomoting would indicate that you were running at 60-80 MPH.
Most of the time it was enabled by accident and users wouldn't know how to disable it.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: why was it disabled in worlds too then? And why remove the
entire
feature because some people would leave it on by mistake? And why did this just happen to be removed in the Unity 2017 update, with no mention of it in the changelog at all?Especially in worlds, the doppler effect makes sound FX a lot better. It makes no sense for it to be intentionally removed. This is yet another removed feature to be added to the casualties. This world used it to great effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l37yS0RUkgk
If you're really concerned about the default doppler settings not being newbie-friendly, then why not implement a very simple editor script into the SDK to automatically set it to 0 when adding an audio source?

Hugo Zink: For the time being, disabling Doppler completely made the most sense. The negatives of leaving it enabled far outweighed the losses of disabling it, and the video you've linked is literally the first case I've seen in VRChat where it was used intentionally and properly.
Almost every other case of Doppler usage in VRChat (while it was enabled) was an accident, and either resulted in confused users emailing our Support team, or (if the author chose to ignore the problem) a world where it was impossible to speak to others while moving.
This is one of those things we'll get back around to eventually, but it is one of many, many issues we've got queued up.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: in that case, why not just disable doppler on the voice audio sources? To me, it just seems like this decision was made in haste, yet again opting to remove something entirely rather than fixing it.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community Does "For the time being," mean "5 years and more"?
