CRASH and DDOS / Kick clients are still an issue
CRUSADER(J)
Just too bring this too light, 3 years later This is still an issue. I know Its an old topic. but I think its good that we keep an eye on this
Its annoying when you are just hanging with friends in a public and get crashed / BSOD "memory overflow / ran out of memory" (when I have 32Gb of DDR4 Memory)
Because someone entered the world with a Global crash client or just I or my friends get kicked from the instance.
It is a hit or miss with public worlds so It is difficult too meet new people when these kinds of people affect public
VER #1 Client user: "I don't like you because your staring at a mirror"
VER #2 Client user "I don't like different opinions "
VER #3 Client user "omg Streamer hahahaa (crash)
and spam racial slurs"
Firstly I want too make it clear. welcome too the internet people think different.
However I do believe there needs too be a crack down on clients that are "toxic" such as but not limited to
Clients that use Bots too kick
anti-block
DDOS tools
Global crash tools
ETC...
However there are people out there that are "wholesome" client users and I understand that (This however could result in a blanket change which is not what I want too happen)
such as but not limited to
PLAY SPACE MOVER
WORLD REJOIN
ANTI PORTAL (too stop pesky portal spammers AKA, people who use clients too spawn portals that have crash worlds)
Anyhow, you get the idea, being a long time VRCHAT player I see this as being an issue and as a deterrent too new players and people who want to socialize
On the other hand, I see VRCHAT moving in a circular direction right now, new people come in and never come back.
some people stay and suffer through it. but I do see this getting better if it is brought up again too clarify it is still and is an issue
People like me that are DISABLED and out of the ARMY / MILITARY (this is context of why I have so much time on my hands) have all the time in the world too be on this game
hence why I am bringing this up.
let me know what you guys and gals think down in the comments

i dont get crashed anymore i havent experinced a crasher since last year maybe im lucky but i still think the mods that protect players should just be a normality and part of the game just so ppl dont have to deal with this and also fix the issue with ppl being able to bypass the safety settings i sometimes have to hit emergency safety mode when that happens and then enable friends only just a thought tho maybe im wrong but hey thats just a theory a game theory lolz

I refuse to go to public instances because every time I do I crash. I've had times where vrchat took my whole computer with it. My computer is pretty powerful, but still has issues with public worlds. I know it's not the avatars people are wearing either, especially when I'm using maximum safety settings besides voice settings. Not only that, but I'm scared to go into public worlds because I don't want my custom model stolen that I spent a ridiculous amount of money on, and I constantly hear of horror stories where people get doxxed, their account hacked and all their content deleted, or even people having permanent computer damage because the hacked client someone used was able to modify a person's bios settings and set all their fan speeds to 0. We're at a point where legal action can be taken and damages are becoming real life issues.

friends+ and friends-only is your best-friends in this game tbh

Sorry I'm new here. I left this game for a long time because of the crashing that was practically destroying my graphics card. I usually play on my bfs computer. I want to say get rid of the Nutorious mod. It’s a common client people pay to use. Squeakers and toxic people think it’s funny to use, bully, and intimidate other players. They need to get rid of it! It very frustrating and annoying.

I also raised this issue before. It got so bad for me that i would rather stay in private worlds with friends. When I would go see friends in public worlds crashing almost seemed a routine thing I had to deal with. It was so frequent I used a wholesome mod client to protect myself with a spoofer that masks your IP. It worked very well. The mod client I used to use is outdated now and now migrated to a new mod loader but right now its not that bad in regards to crashers. I do have a fear of using mod clients now because during the last ban wave, I got hit with one of the bans even though I used the mod client responsibly. It took me four months of waiting to return to the game. It was also during the time the US entered quarentine which was the worst. I wish there was a method which allowed to use mods legally in the game or at the least a method in which to confirm toxic and malicious mod client players and ban them. Either that or go after malicious client developers and their discords and shut them down or at the least stop the use of their malicious tools.

You do know playspace mover is a SteamVR modification and not a VRChat modification. With playspace, the nameplate doesn't move up or down with them while modified clients with no clip just stay floating and never fall down with their nameplates following them.
When in public worlds, best to avoid crashing is just hide avatars in safety settings menu except friends (it's up to you, but is recommended in public worlds)
Being a streamer and someone saying racial slurs is nothing new and is easy mute em or block them.
DDoSing has been a problem for a while now and not sure if VRChat will resolve it because we always get the generic "get a VPN" speech which doesn't help at all for those who can't afford to use one that actually hides your real IP and reasonable bandwidth usage for the services.

Legoman99573: Agree. VPN should not be needed for security like that. Any games that reveal IP's have bad security and they should fix it without excuses. Anything else is just bad devs.
I am aware of the IP leak though and use VPN myself cause of it. But that doesnt change how bad it is from a developer standpoint to not secure that. No excuse can make that good.

SquidNeko: DDoSing has prevented people from wanting to join this game again and pretty sad seeing new players join just to see them leave and say they are not coming back to the game.
Explains why i don't come on as often as the issue has never been resolved and seems like the devs are more interested in adding more features than fixing the current problems, which is trusting the client side completely and never checking anything server side like vote kicks and moderation kicks and warnings from the world/instance owners, which usually falls within good reason to do so.

Legoman99573: I cant but agree. =3

Play Space Mover isn't a "client" or modification to VRChat, just an external program that interacts with SteamVR.
