Avatar shaking/jittering with Oculus + SteamVR
complete

I noticed that since a little while ago your avatar is shaking/jittering if you use Oculus and play VRChat via SteamVR. It is especially noticeable if your fps drop to 45fps (but i dont mean lag or anything).
It works normal if you just use the Oculus Store version. With SteamVR only devices like the Index it also seems to work normal.
You can see what i mean in this Video:
Left is with the Oculus store version.
Right is with the Oculus + SteamVR

We have 2023 year, and problem is still in VRChat, on Oculus Software is good, but Oculus+SteamVR making a jitter, you can't add option to VRC to have a OVRToolKit options? Like change height on analog and moving hands etc?
On Oculus if i get 45FPS, still bones are solid, but on SteamVR i have a small Jitter... this is so annoying, this fix from 2020 doesn't fix a problem at all.

Marking this as complete since it's a non-VRChat issue with SteamVR and they've applied a fix.

SteamVR 1.15 has just released, with an apparently relevant patchnote:
Oculus:
Fixed jittery head pose tracking issue.
Please update your SteamVR and give this a shot! Note: This is a newer build than we posted about earlier, so if you were still having issues this may help.
Observer․
Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: I'll just reiterate roughly what I said in the steamvr discussion. It has certainly reduced it enough but after extended use it is possible that more severe shaking can be seen. Ultimately steamvr did a good job having it stable enough to not be annoying but tracking jitter is still perceivable.
I would conclude though that if steamvr can not resolve this further then the current fix is adequate enough. As someone who has been using the steamvr beta since the fix I have been able to ignore the small jitter that is still present.

Observer․: I can second this. It is improved but not a complete fix, I can't agree that it is entirely solved but it is at least less obvious. It's a solid start, but I hope they will manage to make a complete fix eventually.

can indeed confirm after I recently upgraded from my laptop to a PC with better specs.
I first thought it was just my laptop getting quite old and not capable of running it anymore,
but after the upgrade it still was happening
but what I also noticed on my laptop when the fps was really low was that Steam VR also even though slightly started to jitter,
So it could also be a Steam VR bug.

A workaround for this to those having trouble is to downgrade to an earlier version of SteamVR - for example the May version 2020. This fixed the issue for me, and I have no plans on ever updating SteamVR while I'm on my CV1 again.

Newest SteamVR update apparently fixed it. Will complete task if it does seem correct https://steamcommunity.com/games/250820/announcements/detail/2881698852455167781

Ruuubick - Designer: Yeah, no. That would be amazing, but it's absolutly not fixed still: https://twitter.com/Neonie/status/1313737279198900224.

As you can see, the beta update IS more stable than the previous incarnation, but still not perfect. This is most evident by looking at the environment comparison. In the actual headset, it's actually very obvious looking at the mic icon, that is very shaky in Steam VR but completely stable on Oculus. This does not appear when capturing, however.

Neonie: can confirm.

Ruuubick - Designer: For me it seems to be fixed, there is still some jitters but they are not constant, might be just shitty tracking + low fps. I haven't compared it to oculus version yet. But no more headaches, yay!

I can confirm this is happening to me as well.
Oculus home: No problem at all
Oculus Client Vrchat: No shaking/jitters
Steam VR: No shaking/jitters
Steam VR Menu while Vrchat is running: No shaking/jitters
Only in Steam VR Vrchat is when the shaking and jittering occurs for me. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

This might not even be just a vrc issue but potentially a steamvr issue. I noticed it then did some testing with only steamvr running, no other games, and still noticed the HMD jittering when set down on a flat surface. Granted I was testing with a Vive not Oculus.
