[1319] Spawning as the first joiner may occasionally violently jerk/yeet/throw you around in the world at high velocity until respawn
tracked
Haï~
Spawning as the first joiner may occasionally violently jerk/yeet/throw you around in the world at high velocity until respawn.
Reproduction steps:
- Unknown reproduction steps
- The effect reportedly happens rarely
- The effect can happen in the home world right after VRChat starts
Observed:
- The player is violently thrown around in the world at high velocity
- The camera can roll in such a way that the virtual world's horizon will no longer match the real playspace horizon, causing loss of balance
- The player may sometimes bypass the world colliders, going out the normal boundaries of the world
- The effect persists until respawn is triggered by going out Y bounds
- Before the effect happens, the player sometimes spawns outside of the world, or in a location that is not normally a spawn
- This appears to only affect the first joiner of a world (instance master)
- If the user was already in calibrated inside full body tracking, the avatar may be mangled with incorrect IK target positions until the avatar is reset

This should have been fixed in a recent update. Has anyone encountered this issue recently?
DAG-XR
StormRel. This did not occur for me.

StormRel not my self but somebody i meet yesterday. they went in a portal. Me after them. On the spawn i open my menu "Where are they?" .. 2 seconds later a voice behind me "i got yeeted of the platform" But this is the only "kinda seen" excident in the last weeks
Myrkur
StormRel how recent ago was this fix? I got it a few builds ago on beta when the VRC Head Chop component was in public testing.

StormRel I
think
I've seen it once in the last few weeks, but not 100% sure. I was used to it enough I would just respawn early enough that my avatar usually didn't break and wouldn't even consciously notice it. I'm pretty sure it's less often though.rollthered
StormRel Had this happen to me a week ago, its still there. Albeit happening a LOT less frequently.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haï~
I stopped having this issue for several weeks, until I started using another of my main avatars regularly (with the issue now triggering several times per day). It feels like some avatars are more likely to trigger this issue than others. It does even happen on desktop.
I don't know if it's something related to a component or a characteristic in the avatar itself, or the speed at which the avatar loads.

still present in 2024 year :(
GotoFinal
still present, also some findings:
- disabling fbt does not fix it
- changing avatar does not fix it
- even to default avatars like unity chan
- calibration mode does not fix it (cant calibrate tho because my view point also goes away from avatar)
- even rotating head can send you flying
- rotation left/right actually rotates you along some axis with unknown origin point, like 2 meters below you and rotating to the right like -> head going to right leg
- you can achieve a semi-stable position when you can even walk, tho usually only on one axis. the position can be random, like sideways.
- in that state when rotating head you can slowly see it go less and less stable until it explodes again, starting to slowly shake stronger
Whaddageek
GotoFinal: It's not an avatar issue, it's a collision issue with the player intersecting with world colliders at 0,0,0 on spawn and ejecting violently.
GotoFinal
Whaddageek: well respawning fixes it usually, so its kinda weird that changing avatar does not, and it goes forever, you can't escape whatever is happening. So its a bit weird how its happening
Whaddageek
GotoFinal: Respawning fixds it because it's an issue occurring during the world loading and your initial spawn-in. Something is occurring asynchronously so your avatar gains collision before being placed at the spawn point and Physics Occurs.

GotoFinal: I think because your world collision capsule is always the same size. It doesn't re-initialize on avatar change but it likely does when you respawn since it's technically updating the location of it.

GotoFinal: I commented previously that toggling OSC fixes the mangled FBT/IK. Since nothing else fixes it and OSC can control FBT, I wonder if it is really some very obscure OSC bug — that should be verifiable by checking OSC debug data when it happens.

Still present in 1390.

Yeah still happening on latest builds, the results are the same, i spawn into a world, and it places me far away from spawn to start with, possibly at the 0,0,0 point of the world, and then it flings you around, i've observed that it seems like the world tilts sideways as well despite my head still being pointed upright.
Salbug
Any updates internally regarding this issue? Surprised to see this has been so difficult to repo and determine the root cause of.

Salbug: My suspicion is that certain events aren't happening in the consistent order.

Still a thing in Version 1370

Can confirm this is real. Happens from time to time.
