[1628][AVM] "My Avatars" section has lost a lot of features compared to live
tracked
DrBlackRat
Issue:
With the AVM Update to the Avatars Tab in the Main Menu all the previous options were moved to "My Avatars".
My Avatars is missing quite a lot of features compared to live:
- No more "compact view"
- You can no longer sort the different categories (e.g. Date Added, Last Updated, Name, Recently Used, Performance)
- Minimizing the navigation panel removes the categories all together instead of making them icons
In general the new Avatars UI feels very weird and not coherent with the rest of the Menu.
Expected Behaviour / Suggestion:
These missing features should be reimplemented to prevent this being a regression compared to live.
"My Avatars" should have imo just looked like it currently does on live with a "Purchased" category edited to it. Currently it just looks really out of place.

Here are screenshots comparing the two:

Partially addressed through changes we're making here. Sorting will be re-implemented (and added to some other views) with an upcoming patch.

You might also want to take a look at:
Collapsed sidebar, counters on each categories, credit section on every avatars...

Quite honestly, the flip from top to bottom with the change into avatar button is also kinda..eeeh, like why was that decision made?
It feels clunkier and more claustrophobic despite having less buttons, were these decisions made by the same person who made the EAC one?

Then why not just hold off until it's done rather than leave it broken in LIVE in the interim when all it does is generate negative feedback from the userbase?

Thanks for the feedback! We're working on this.

[1643] Avatar menu no longer has sort
ThistleBunny
The option to sort avatars (by recently used, name, etc) appears to be missing from the new avatar menu, instead only showing avatars in order of upload.

As has already been said, we should avoid coming to the live version with the filtering functionality missing in the open beta.
If we come to the live version, the avatar selection screen will “regress” to before the UI 2.0 update.

Is it true that in the open beta we can’t filter our own avatars by name, upload time, or other criteria? That would be a disaster if it stays the same in the live version. Also, please don’t make the avatar market the default first tab—or at least give us an option to change the tab order. It’s really annoying having to switch back to uploaded avatars every time. I get that the avatar market is there to generate revenue, but I’ve been a VRC Plus subscriber for two years without relying on it. Uploaded avatars are a core feature of the game, so please don’t downgrade the user experience.

Use sorting from Wing.

Currently there is no way to sort your avatar listing by Name, Added, Updated, Performance, or Recently used.
