[Feature Request] Track-pad / Joystick float values
Xiexe
I would like to be able to read the input float value for the joystick and track-pad respectively.
This would allow things like a "legacy" gesture system to be created on Index controllers, where you could trigger different animations by sliding your thumb around on the track-pad, rather than relying on the finger tracking.

Yeah this would be useful for me. I'd like to get an Index, but I have Repetitive Strain Injuries that prevent me from making advanced gestures with my fingers. An Index would be nice to let me rest my fingers (due to how its fastened around the hand, I wouldn't have to constantly grip it), and being able to use the trackpad for gestures would be a godsend for me and people with my condition.

I concur; this would be a Godsend for accessibility.
I'd also like to add a similar feature to the "Vive Advanced Control", allowing you to lock the trigger to outputting a gesture that you previously held. This would tie into use with the trackpad. (Peace sign on trackpad + trigger = rebinding trigger to peace sign)
This is a legacy behavior with Vive wands, but was immensely helpful for triggering things such as a gesture that makes a gun shoot. Not every avatar creator uses the same gesture to preform the action, and allowing you to essentially rebind the trigger on the fly was immensely helpful.
For me in particular, I use this for very quickly puppeteering facial expressions on my avatar. I would not normally be able to trigger them nearly as quickly without it. Something like this on Index (if it doesn't already exist) would also be helpful on index if they initially listen to the trackpad for that behavior.
