Feature Request — Mutual Trust Controls for Full Avatar Asset Delivery
汐汐汐白纸
Avatar ripping has become a serious concern for VRChat users and creators. Avatars that people spend significant time and money creating or purchasing can be extracted, redistributed, or even resold without permission simply because they were used around other players. This undermines users’ sense of safety and harms creators.
I would strongly appreciate an optional mutual trust system with the following features:
- Full avatar assets are shared only when both users explicitly mark each other as trusted.
- Users without mutual trust receive only a server-generated, low-detail proxy avatar that preserves basic social interaction.
- Access controls apply at the asset-delivery level. Unauthorized clients receive only the proxy assets, with access to the original meshes, textures, and other full-avatar resources restricted.
- Users can manage and revoke trust at any time, or choose to make their full avatar visible to everyone.
I understand that this would have limitations and that revoking trust cannot recover assets someone has already downloaded. Even so, giving users control over who can receive their full avatar assets would be a valuable step toward protecting avatars and supporting creators.
Please consider adding this feature so users can feel more comfortable wearing the avatars they love.
