You should not be able to hide age verification
BadNicc
Please offer reasoning below to the contrary, but I can't think of a valid reason for why you'd want to hide the fact that you are 18 or older.
Conversely, I can think of reasons a bad actor might wish to hide that they were an adult in order to fit in better with groups they shouldn't be involved with.
To that end, I believe that once you recieve verification, it should be a permanent feature on your profile unless someone can think of a valid reason for why this information should be hidden, this also means that Verified 18+ users shouldn't recieve the middle age verified without an age. Feel free to offer any thoughts!

My concern is that, by essentially making it even more of a no-brainer for bad-actors to make an alternate account, we actually make it harder to detect them by removing some really valuable red flags that can easily be detected and investigated, we make VRChat Trust and Safety's job harder, and bad-actors won't be deterred because it only takes 30 seconds to make a new account without the verified flag.
Put simply, it's much better to have a bad actor incorrectly think they're less visible, when really they're just as visible to their friends and VRChat's Trust and Safety Team, then to basically force/guide them to a solution where they are actually less-visible to the people who can actually do something about bad behaviour.

It's probably the same reason why you don't want your date of birth to be shown. You can only join a 18+ instance if you are 18+ verified, so It makes no sense.
For example: you want to know the Age of a User who is just "Age Verified" but not 18 yet.
You just have to check the profile daily to determine their age (You will see if they turn 18).
This is probably the main reason.

I guess if you're the type of person who is
that
protective of your birthday, so much so that you never.. celebrate it in VR, mention it to friends in VR, or ever bring any attention to it at all, that's fair. But that kind of person with that level of privacy concern likely doesn't want to age verify to begin with. I can't imagine the mind of a person who is worried someone will stalk their profile every day for a year when they're 17 to see the DAY it flips to 18, but also feels comfortable giving their ID to a third party company.SaphiGoat
BadNicc That's why it should be visible only by choice.
Whats a reason to prevent people from hiding thier "age" status?
Blush~
SaphiGoat Adults might try to hide their age status so that they can pretend to be minors to try and befriend them for nefarious means.
SaphiGoat
Blush~ Even then, they could just say, they tricked the system (thier parents ID/Fake ID).
Edit: or just use an unverified ALT
Blush~
SaphiGoat You want to make people with bad intentions have to jump through as many hoops as possible.
SaphiGoat
Blush~ This is true, but at this point they most likely just make an alt

If that's the only worry adding an option to delay it showing you're 18+ by a select able/random amount, say within a month, would be an easy fix.
