[Proposal] [Age Verification] Addressing asset accounts problem
ZippytheHippy
Multiple problems exist for people using alternate accounts as assets such as cameras and radios while Age Verification begins its phase-out. That problem is primarily regarding the policy decision of one ID per account. Based on what I had read regarding this roll-out, a request for comments was made to address this concern. I therefore propose the following solution:
Account Families.
A Primary Account is age verified. This Primary is then permitted to create a certain number of Secondary Sub-Accounts. These sub-accounts have restrictions placed upon them to prevent misuse and allow them only to be used as an asset. One such restriction might be to only allow log-in if primary is online. I believe an option to mitigate existing accounts to primary/secondary model may also be feasible if the proposal is implemented.
I believe the switch to this model of account management has far-reaching benefits outside of the present problem that has arisen from Age Verfication. Besides assets being able to enter Adult-Only worlds, the secondary model may also serve in the inverse as a method of parental control, much like Family Accounts on the PlayStation Network. There is also a potential economic incentivization here for VRChat itself. You have the ability, if the proposal is implemented, to limit the maximum quantity of secondary sub-accounts a user may be able to create, though simply permit unlimited with VRC+.
The only hindrance here that I see is that of the need to limit the abilities of these accounts in a reasonable manner to avoid abuse of the system. Perhaps the sub-account could be labeled within the system as a specific type of preconfigured restriction setting that is unmodifiable. For instance, a sub account could be marked "Radio" or "Child."
I thank you for your considerations on this matter.
