Some people have very long bios, but personally, most people I see have rather short bios, but are just long enough to be affected by the "Read more" button, often only hiding 1 or 2 extra lines.

I think showing just a few more lines by default would be a little more convenient than having to almost always click "Read more" in bios, for example the one in the images I attached:
