VRChat needs to chill out with the email provider blocking, or at least allow changing after account creation
f is for fun
VRC is blocking Protonmail and forcing me to stay on my a gmail address that I don't want to use. I suppose it makes sense to block providers you don't trust to be easily autobotted at account creation, but I've already made my account with a provider that you find “trustable”. It doesn't make sense to restrict people from switching to their actual emails after they've passed that account creation barrier. I also pay for VRC+, and apparently that's not considered either to give me the freedom to set my actual email.
Plus in any case, it's as easy to make a new gmail account as it is to make one on Proton (I actually have found that it is perhaps a little harder on Proton as they tend to require additional verification, I suppose to avoid getting blocked by services like yours). Gating email providers this hard, ones that are used by everyday people, is such a needless pain that I've only come across with you guys.

Enable Proton Email Addresses!

I am trying to get away from Google for better personal privacy. Nearly every service or website lets me use my proton email or aliases - except for VRChat.
I am not the only person in this situation. I have seen many posts about it on Reddit and other online boards.

this please, i'm trying to do the same, proton is one of the most secure and private emails there is for the public to use.

They recently added google as a way to sign in directly, their being paid to fuck you over, stop paying for vrc+!

VRChat really should seriously reconsider their domain policy.
The vast majority of people using proton domains use it to strengthen the privacy and security of their personal information, especially compared to providers like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.
If they should reconsider, i would also like to kindly ask to add support for SimpleLogin/Protonmail's hide-my-email domains.
While i do fully understand that some people will inevitably abuse this to circumvent account bans, i truly believe that it would be a net positive for the vast majority of users. Especially at a time like now when data breaches are only a question of when, not if.

bump. it's insane that vrchat is the only service i use that won't allow proton email addresses.
helooproto
Shameless bump.
the fact proton email addresses are blocked is just dumb. Its been so long and proton mail is used by SO many people now, especially with gmail using your emails for ai by default (stinky google). I see no reason to continue blocking proton
Its not just about being able to use that email address, its about actually having my mails be secure and not needing a separate account on a separate provider just for vrchat, even if i set up email forwarding. Stinky
To reiterate
Shameless bump.

Allow Proton Mail as compatible email domains.
Nico Branco
I recently switched to Proton and I tried to change my email address to my Proton Mail address here on my VRChat account, but it doesn't allow me to change it to Proton Mail because VRChat doesn't support Proton domains. I was hoping VRChat could allow Proton domains, the main ones being @proton.me and @protonmail.com, as valid email domains. Proton uses multiple domains users can choose from, but the ones I listed are the domains that can be used for free.
