Requesting a reconsideration of this.
I would also take self-hosted but it's clear to see how allowing random domains could lead to account creation spam.

This is intended, and not a bug. The Protonmail provider is not permitted for use as a registration email for VRChat.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: Can you maybe reconsider adding Protonmail for signup? It seems like this decision was made a few years ago when Protonmail wasn't as big as it is now. Protonmail has taken many security measures to prevent it from being used for malicious intent or spam.
People also use it for their complete toolchain, as they now have a drive to store files, a VPN service, and a calendar service. Users who prefer email services that prioritize privacy should not be treated unfairly, which is the case here, even if it is not intended.
Any email service, and especially self-hosted email, is much more vulnerable to malicious attacks on your services, and yet you allow their use, but not something like Protonmail.

adeleine: funny enough .xyz domains are blocked, but my .com which points to my .xyz is allowed. I don't think there is reasoning with this decision
f is for fun
Tupper - VRChat Head of Community The original post does not say it is a bug, it is requesting that Protonmail should be allowed. You should take it as a feature request/suggestion rather than close it as an invalid bug. Proton is legitimately used day to day by actual people, the restriction is not warranted, most definitely overboard and an inconvenience to people who don't use Gmail. VRC is frankly the only time I've had to use something else due to a block.
