Edit Avatar accepts Image Gallery photo uploads exceeding the stated maximum file size (> 1 MB)
WubTheCaptain
Edit Avatar says: "Recommended resolution: 1920x1080px. Maximum file size: 1MB." As far as I know, only a maximum resolution of 2048x2048 may be enforced.
- Have an uploaded avatar on your account.
- Go to VRChat Home website to the avatar page.
- Click the pencil icon next to the avatar name for "Edit Avatar".
- Navigate to "Gallery".
- Upload a gallery photo > 1 MB in file size.
Expected behavior: The photo exceeding max file size (> 1 MB) upload is rejected before the upload starts (valid file sizes should receive a HTTP 100 Continue), or the uploaded photo is rejected retroactively after upload for exceeding file size, or the maximum file size stated should be "10MB" instead of "1MB".
Actual behavior: Uploading the photo exceeding the stated maximum file size (> 1 MB) succeeds.
A video is attached. Please ignore the HTTP 403 Forbidden response for the uploaded gallery photos in the video, it's a separate issue that also affects gallery photos < 1 MB (for example, a 1080x860 photo of 487 KB) - tracked separately in support ticket #693577.

The suggested 1MB max file size restriction is silly, because avatar thumbnails have more lax requirements: "Each file must be less than 10MB and larger than 64x64 pixels. Images larger than 2048x2048 will be resized automatically."
Maybe the text is meant to say "Maximum file size: 10MB" instead of 1MB?
