[1236] UI 2.0 Category "Other" does not refresh after building a new avatar locally
tracked
Krysiek
I build a new avatar in Unity using "Build & Test" button when the game is running. The new avatar won't appear in "Other" section until I restart the game. In the old UI, the avatar is visible immediately after build.

My current workaround
- Locate %appdata%/../LocalLow/VRChat/VRChat/Avatars
- Upload test avatar avi1, duplicate it and rename the copy to avi2
- Edit avi1 and test upload
- Rename avi1 to avi2
- In game switch to an other avatar than avi2 and then back to it
Repeat 3-5 whenever you upload the test avatar
This is a bit tedious workaround but better than restarting the game for every upload.

Issue still persists not even the
--watch-avatars
launch flag fixes this issue...also I'm pretty sure vrchat doesn't even reload the Build & Test avatar when you change out and back into it

This problem still persists, despite the "Uploads" category issue having been fixed.

Updated or new avatar doesn't appear in menu until restarting vrchat
PС
Whenever I click publish for an avatar, the avatar will not show up in the menu no matter what I do unless I close and relaunch the game. I've tried switching avatars back and forth, switching worlds, waiting for hours, nothing will update the menu.
This has been happening for a good while now, and it's quite obnoxious how much this slows down testing, I've resorted to changing the name and color of something on the avatar just to make sure that updated avatars are clearly loading the updated version and not the old one, which it will never load the new one until I restart the game.
Same thing seems to happen for build and test seen in this post: https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/build-1249-avatars-built-with-build-test-do-not-appear-in-new-main-menu-until-re

[Build 1249] Avatars built with "Build & Test" do not appear in new main menu until restart.

Before the new main menu was introduced, avatars built with the "Build & Test" option for local testing, would appear in the "Other" category pretty much immediately. However since the new menu was added, this no longer seems to be the case.
The only way that I can seem to reliably get newly built avatars to show up in the "Other" category, is by restarting the game.
As it is rather time consuming to have to restart the game each time I want to test, it would be fantastic if this past behaviour was brought back.

Build and test doesnt work most sometimes
Temmie Dola
Sometimes it works fine. The avatar updates by itself because I wrote the start parameter --watch-avatars. Often the avatar doesn't change itself, so I do it the old-fashioned way. I choose another avatar, then a local one. It often happens that vrchat crashes at random moments. I'm attaching a log after the crash. hope this helps

Avatar Build & Test discovery seems bugged

The VRChat client does not seem to reload / discover changes done to test avatars when the game is open.
You have to close and open it again to reload local test avatars.
[Scenario 1]
- Have the game open
- Build & Test avatar with new ID
- Go to game, and see the new avatar does not show up in the "Others" avatar tab until you restart the game.
[Scenario 2]
- Have the game open.
- In Unity, go to Content Manager and remove test avatars you don't want to use anymore
- Go to VRChat, the avatars will still appear, but if you click them, they show error avatar.
You need to restart vrchat client for changes to take effect.

This extends to the --watch-avatars command not working when the avatar does not update.

new avatars on account not updating since Menu 2.0
MissStabby
With the new menu I have noticed a considerable increase in the time it takes before a newly uploaded avatar is added to the list of avatars.
I'm not sure if this is purely the new menu or if this is coincidentally related to some API changes.
In any case, having a manual "check for new uploads" button would be very welcome

Same problem when you add someone to your friend list, it don't appear...
and also friend reported me that bug (never tested need other people to test it):
- "Upgrade role" (eg: User --> Known User) not show without reboot (he closed VRC for 2h then he obtained new status)
- New World Created.
seem like the new client don't sync everything
