[6d09] Option to enable/disable "tracker jitter correction"
complete
Boofy․
The tracker jitter correction is a super cool new feature but it's not something I want on all the time as I find it somewhat immersion breaking.
I can see myself loving it for dancing and jumping around, but lying down and moving gently just feels too sluggish in my opinion.
So I'm requesting a quick menu option to enable / disable or to have a slider between the two options.

The Tracker Motion Prediction slider is included in release version 2023.3.2

This is now available in the Tracking & IK main menu page as the "Tracker Motion Prediction" slider.

Kung: Thanks! Would it be possible to separate the slider for trackers and controllers? Typically the motion prediction is an issue for trackers only, not really controllers (unless you accidentally smash your controller into a wall or playspace-invading object, to which tracking jitter is most likely the least of your worries).

Limblicious: Ah Sorry I missed this comment earlier. The motion prediction for controllers is always unchanged (equivalent to 100% mode)

with the tracker jitter correction i can clearly feel and see my avatars legs dragging behind my trackers.
i don't like that delay at all and prefer responsiveness. It feels very off and immersion breaking for me. Some people are may not as sensitive to delay than me or prefer the reduced jitter despite the added delay. But tbh i dont really want to use it as it is now.
The delay isn't as bad on the hands. I notice it on elbows and knee's too but on the feet trackers it's the worst.
It would be great if the reduced jitter could be achieved without the delay. Or if there would be a toggle to turn this function off or a slider to adjust how much the jitter gets reduced so everyone could adjust it to their likings.
It would also be okay for me if there would be a launch argument to disable it.

I would also like enable/disable or sliders for controllers and trackers.
I believe this is the third party app people are referring to when talking about motion smoothing/jitter reduction for trackers: https://booth.pm/ja/items/4018006. I've been using this for quite some time.
As far as I can tell both the new IK in the beta and this app do the same thing, trade tracker positional lag for reduced tracker jitter. In my experience this is not actually ideal for dancing, because a lot of small technical movements or quick movements get muted/deleted/nerfed by the motion smoothing. This issue is exacerbated over the network when I am watching friends use this app with the movement smoothing maxed out, they almost look like they're barely moving at all if they have max smoothing.
I was hoping that the VRC beta IK kept that raw movement input and still sent that over the network so that as much movement is shown to other players but after dancing today...I don't think that's the case.

I compared the way it behaves to the Smoothtracking tool for SteamVR and to me it looks like VRC does exactly the same: it turns off tracking prediction. In a nutshell we get the actual recorded positions without any prediction by steamvr, this makes them effectively lag behind our real limbs but eliminates any possible noise caused by false predictions.
Personally I would only like to have it on feet and hip but not on controllers, controllers are being tracked really well including steamvrs prediction. Games like shooters or any kind of game that requires snappy input are almost unplayable with the additional delay caused by lack of prediction... So either a toggle or sliders for the various tracking devices would be nice, just like Smoothtracking already has in SteamVR.

this is simply horrible. if you can't provide a slider that goes from off to whatever then it shouldn't exist, at all as it's a net negative.
idk how the smoothing is achieved, but even with a constant speed movement it lags behind the tracker. this is not okay. we want to eliminate high frequency noise, not just average the last x samples as it currently
looks
(and feels). please investigate the Kalman filter, or something similar for this.I agree with others, there is already a steamvr plugin for this that's better at this.

behavior still feels unnaturally sluggish in 6e29 even after the small latency fix

This is even more important if you use others FBT than steamvr trackers. SlimeVR already havc next to none jitters

Kinda feels like I'm moving through slime or something

[6d09] Option to change jitter correction amount
moonorama
I really like the new jitter correction feature, but sometimes I feel it can be a little too smooth for lower intensity movements. I propose an option or a slider that adjusts the amount of jittering that is being fixed, or, how smooth the tracking is.
