"You need git installed" but Git is already on the Path

Launching VCC, it complains about Git not being installed. I have a version of Git installed and it's on my path. I can easily reach it from the command prompt. If there is a specific distribution or version of Git required, is it clearly stated somewhere?

Should be fixed in version 0.2.3, available via "Update" button in app, or download the installer from https://vrchat.com/home/download
Instead of checking the Windows Registry, the VCC will now run
git --version
in a background process, and consider git installed if this returns a string like "git version 2.36.whatever".Momo the Monster

Right now, the git checker just looks for @"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\GitForWindows" in your registry, so if you do not have this key then it will fail the test.
We can add a method to run
git --version
and read the output instead.Note that you'll need git lfs installed as well - otherwise I _think_ your version should be fine.
As a temp workaround, you can open
~User/Documents/VRChatCreatoCompanion/settings.json
and set skipRequirements
to true for now.Z

Momo the Monster: Thanks, adding skipRequirements seemed to help. My git installation, albeit unconventional, is fully functional. Changing the git check to run git version would probably work for me. Now I'm running into an unrelated migration issue that somebody else has already reported.

Momo the Monster: Alternatively one can use .reg file similar to this:
---------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GitForWindows]
"CurrentVersion"="2.36.0"
"InstallPath"="D:\\Programs\\Git"
"LibexecPath"="D:\\Programs\\Git\\mingw64\\libexec\\git-core"
---------------------------
and then import it into Windows registry.
