[FEEDBACK] Store avatars states when changing worlds (or leaving?)
complete

Theres lots of times where i change my entire outfit via many configurations in the menu and then i change worlds and my outfit is gone. I feel like the states should only reset if I changed avatar and maybe left the game. That way, if I wanted to wear a red shirt and blue pants on my avatar, I can wear them until i change avatars.

Parameter persistence is available as of VRChat 2021.1.1, currently in Open Beta.

I fully support this idea! This would be a huge quality of life improvement for 3.0 where you may have advanced setups that take time to customize. I really hope to see this happen in the near future.

I'd like to be able to save multiple recolorings of the same avatar as if they're different avatars in my favorites, so I can swap between them easily (and of course, not lose the colorings when changing worlds). I'd prefer to see this separated from "Expressions" into a dedicated "Customizations" area, so that expression animations remain quick-access, and customizations are all grouped together. It would also make more sense to display certain customizations as a toggle rather than the icon making them seem like a playing animation (even if they are) for less user confusion. "Save how I look now and keep it permanently" seems like an important aspect of how players experience avatar customizations.

Nice idea. Avatars 3.0 is a good concept because you don't need to make 1 million avatars of the same thing with different outfits, so why not let the options someone sets stay?

I've made a fully colourable Avali avatar that uses 9 parameters for colouring (3 colours with HSV params for each). It's currently very annoying to use it, because the avatar resets to default colours every time you switch worlds or start the game, and it's necessary for people to memorize the values (remember, it's 9 different values) for their colour scheme and manually enter them every time.
If parameters were stored and saved, this wouldn't be a problem, and avatars with high customization would be much more usable.

This would also be very awesome for making avatars more accessible to POC people, because avatars could have skin color sliders (I know its possible now, but needing to fix the skin color after every world hop would likely feel shitty, like being in someone else's body every time you switch worlds). Currently avatar makers have to upload more versions of an avatar to have different skin color options (and they usually don't), so POC people are very limited on avatar choice, and even more limited on what color skin they get when they actually find a darker skin avatar. Being able to save avatar states across worlds would let people choose their actual skin color for their avatars.

Alex the Cat: excuse my ignorance but what is POC
Lamethrower
xxx_red_xxx: I think they are referring to people of colour as POC and that most avatars are most commonly Caucasian in skin colour meaning it's not good to have to change to their desired skin colour every time they swap worlds.

Oh! I also just figured out how epic this could actually be. Users could make a customization menu where you can go from basic to fully customized with a few sliders and toggles. Multiple users would use the same avatars but look completely different, and it would remain that way! It craps on performance ranking obviously (at least until it gets renovated), but it takes avatars to a new level, allowing users to "make their own" avatars without comissioning, asking for a customized version, or learning how to upload their own avatars. This reminds me of a plan I had to make a furry avatar that was completely configurable down to body shape, ear shapes, body colors and patterns, etc with a few preset outfits that can be applied to demonstrate the design.

[FEEDBACK] locally "save" animator state to reload later
Mimi
I noticed a bunch of people making customizable avatars with shape keys, color of clothes and such, to pretty much make a unique avatar using the action menus. the only issue is, once you change world it all resets. it would be neat if like the "reset avatar" button, we could have a "save state" where it locally saves the state of your parameters for that that avatar, so switching to and from it/switching worlds remembers the values, until you press reset avatar

[FEEDBACK] Add the ability to save current avatar settings as a preset
IgbarVonSquid
For avatars with a lot of toggles and settings (body sliders, color adjustments, clothing options, etc) it'd be nice to be able to save your current settings as a preset that you can then apply again later. This way, if you have a favorite avatar that you constantly use with particular settings, you don't have to set them every single time you switch avatar or world. Instead, you can just press a button to apply your preset without any of the hassle.
